Nooch is a brand new project with the aim to focus on studying and playing Jazz Manouche, or more commonly know as gypsy jazz. We are currently gigging as a trio tightening up arrangements and stylistic nuance. I have the pleasure of working with Chris Amarati, principal bassist in the Boise Philharmonic, and Jonah Shue as our utility player on both Guitar and Violin. This project has been really fun to get off the ground and we have great chemistry as a trio already. I am hoping to grow the project into a larger ensemble and serve this wonderfuly joyous style of jazz music popularized by the great Django Reinhardt.Â
NOOCH, you may ask? A childhood nickname that was bestowed upon me was the name Nooch, which was short for Dominooch. Much of my family on my father's side would refer to me as Nooch or Dominooch when I was a kid. Dominooch and Manouche had a similar ring to them and so as a bit of an homage and slight inside joke I thought Nooch was a fun name for the group. We hope to see you at one of our shows in the near future!
